Workshop Offerings:

Egyptian Belly Dance

Based on 10 fundamental movements, variations phrasing and using the music as a vehicle for interpreting the music.

Beledi

Folkloric dances from Egypt, including Raqs Assaya (Cane dance), Raqs Shamadan (Candelabra dance), and Beledi using Sagat (finger cymbals)

Zarr

Movement and cultural aspects of this trance ritual, and also using Zarr movements as part of a drum solo.

Ghawazi

A’isha teaches this freestyle dance that is just one of the dances performed by the famous Ghawazi of Egypt.

Gulf and Saudi Dance

Including traditional Samri, modern Raqs Kahliji, and Raqs Nejdi Hadith, which she and a Saudi friend introduced into the US.

Costuming

A’isha most often includes costuming information in her folkloric dance classes, but she can design a class around learning to make costumes for any of the above mentioned areas of interest. She also teaches a costuming class for belly dance once a year.
